It is very easy to drift and journey through life without purpose, direction, and concrete plans. And, in fact, the end result can be devastating. Even with a sense of purpose and direction, it can be tough balancing the different areas our lives (spiritual, career, social, family, finance, etc) in order to achieve a well-rounded and fulfilled life.

But all these concerns can be properly dealt with. And Michael Hyatt and Daniel Harkavy show how in their book titled “Living Forward: A proven plan to stop drifting and get the life you want”.
Living Forward promises to equip its readers with the clarity required to craft a vision for their life as well as plans to actualize the vision. It also reveals strategies through which readers can make better decisions in life and contribute massively to the world around them. All in all, the major problem which Living Forward aims to solve is the problem of drifting – i.e. roaming through live with no sense of purpose or destination in mind – which can cause an imbalance in life.
Clear enough, Living Forward squarely dealt with the problem of drifting. And it achieved that by introducing the concept of a Life Plan which “…describes how you want to be remembered. It articulates your personal priorities. It provides the specific actions necessary to take you from where you are to where you want to be in every major area of your life…” The Life Plan basically serves as a navigation system for life more or less like Google Map app does for the highway. Living Forward doesn’t just describe the Life Plan but show very meticulously how an individual, without a vision or Life Plan, can create one and then begin implementing it. It also supplies a couple of sample Life Plans to serve as guides.
Considering the critical nature of the topic Living Forward dealt with, it should be clear by now how distinguished the authors are. Michael Hyatt is the author of Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World, a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller. He had been tagged by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 10 online marketing experts to follow in 2014. Michael is also former chairman and CEO of the largest faith-based publisher in the world, Thomas Nelson Publishers. The co-author Daniel Harkavy is the CEO, executive coach and founder of Building Champions Inc. which trains clients and organizations on peak performance, profitability and fulfillment. Some of its clients include JP Morgan Chase, Mary Kay, Bank of America, Dale Carnegie Training, Thomas Nelson, among many others. Daniel is also the author of Becoming a Coaching Leader:The Proven Strategy for Building Your Own Team of Champions in which he shared his 25+ years of coaching.
I found Living Forward very relatable and easy to follow. That wasn’t just because the authors shared some personal, interesting experiences, but also for the fact that they communicated to the reader as a mentor would to a mentee. The book was a life-changer to me. After reading Living Forward a while ago, I remember having to quickly apply the principles it taught, especially creating a Life Plan, without wasting much time. (I was already used to planning but not to the degree of the Life Plan.) With my Life Plan intact, I now live more focused, more purposeful, and more motivated. I say more focused and more purposeful because the tasks/activities that I set out to do each day all fit into my Life Plan. And so I know that I am getting closer and closer to the envisioned future spelt out in my Life Plan so long as I just keep doing the actions I have committed to. That’s the part that motivates and excites me each day.
If you are really looking to live a proactive life of purpose and meaning, then I highly recommend this book to you. It has helped thousands of people get to live the life they want and unequivocally it will do the same for you.
