How to maximize this ‘stay at home’ period

How has this period of self-isolation being for you? I have heard and noticed people respond very differently to that question.

While responses have been like…

  • “Boring…”
  • “Tired of staying at home; can’t wait to go back out there…”

I’ve also heard some very interesting comments on that question such as…

  • “It’s being a period of self-reflection and rest…”
  • “I’m getting myself prepared for what’s on the other side…”

Here’s some great ways to make them most of this self-isolation season.

1. Meditation

On a normal day, people always complain that they’re too busy to pray or take part in other forms of meditation. So, here’s an opportunity come begging for more time to meditate and reflect. Undoubtedly, this one practice has a profound effect on us – psychological, health-wise and otherwise.

More so, meditation will help keep you calmed down even in this period of stress, uncertainty and trepidation.

2. Exercise

Have you always given excuse for why you don’t what to work out? “Working long hours…”
“Too busy, no time…”

Umm… so hopefully during this period none of those will be a hindrance to you working out and burning some carbs . This is very relevant this time especially since you’ll be indoor most of the time, accumulating lots of carbs and fats from eating/binging; so to stay fit, go exercise.

How about taking a walk with the fam; or doing some insanity workout at the backyard or even in your room 🙂 .

3. Connect with fams & friends

It’s definitely a great time to reach out to and stay in contact with family members and friends especially those you’ve ‘forsaken’ .

Someone I know recently compiled a list of stories from various families who staying together this period have strengthening the core of their relationship; that stemmed from them spending more time together, doing activities together as a family and just relishing one another’s presence.

Who won’t what that to happening to his/her family? Here’s is a great time for that. Also, a great time to deepen our relationship with our Creator.

4. Reading books

This is most likely one of the most productive habits/actions you’ll ever develop to promote your success in life. The top individuals, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, etc, read voracious (check out ) and they always make time to read each day. Here’s a period to cultivate that habit of daily reading .

5. Taking online courses

Let me guess, there’re some courses you penned down to complete some time early this year but you didn’t have the time to take them – right? This can be a golden opportunity to get those complete.

And no doubt here’s a great time to begin equipping your arsenal of skills in preparation to take up the opportunities to come on the other side of this pandemic.

There’re a number of sites to enroll for online courses e.g. Lynda.com, Udemy.com, Coursera.org , etc.

6. Strategic planning

After this is over there’s going to be a lot of changes in businesses, industries and the economy in general. So, it’s also going to be a good time to plan ahead in terms of career and business decisions. What new skills, implementations, innovations has to go into your work to adapt to what’s on the other side of this pandemic. Time to anticipate and prepare for these.

What other activities can be added to the list to maximize this period of self-isolation?

To your safety!!
