Comparison!
I am sure that word isn’t new to you especially in this microwave, instant gratification and social media era. People posts about their ‘sweet’ relationships, new lambo, lottery wins, etc, some of which are real and others ? Maybe not. Perhaps you may have stumbled across such posts and you begin comparing yourself, even subconsciously, questioning your abilities and your progress that you lose your joy.
If you can relate to that, you’re not alone!
Comparison itself isn’t neutral but how we respond/react to it is what matters.
“Envy is ignorance. Imitation is suicide.” ~~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
I had the opportunity to chat with Bibi, an enthusiastic and vibrant faith and lifestyle blogger. Some of topics we covered include:
- Dangers of comparison
- Signs you’re trapped in the comparison dark web
- How to avoid the comparison dark web
- How to boost your self-esteem/self-image
If you’ve found yourself struggling with shaky self-esteem, overly concerned with someone else’s successes, or trying to imitate/copy someone else, I’m sure you’ll pick salient points from this interview.
“Focus on your own path. Keep track of your own progress and don’t get distracted by that of others.”
“See yourself at your best always.”
“If you choose to be a copy of someone else, who would be the original ‘you’?”
To your awesome self!
