We know how important it is to set goals to make our dreams come alive. Sometimes, we don’t set goals especially for certain BIG dreams we have… (I touched on this in a different article “Why We Don’t Set Goals” 😊).
In this video I share a goal setting technique used to convert a desire to a goal which is more concrete. Back at the university, I had the privilege of working with students to help them get clarity on what they wanted as well as helped them to create goals and strategize plans in making those goals happen. 📝
It was usually a win not just for them but for me each time they shared the progress and results of implementing the goal setting technique. 😃
And it’s the same goal setting technique that I share in this video. I’ve been practicing it for the longest time and it’s definitely been beneficial for me. ✋
SMART is an acronym; let me break it down:
- Specific : Make it clearly defined by having a precise target
- Measurable: How do you know when you’ve hit the goal? (If you can’t measure it then it doesn’t exist)
- Achievable : Do you believe it’s possible for you?
- Realistic: Given the time period and your current conditions, can you make it happen?
- Time-bound: When will you achieve the goal by?
