Have you ever got caught up almost always comparing yourself to a moving target or expected ideal which you seem to keep missing? 😐
You focus so much on what you don’t have or on what you’ve lost that you barely consider what you do have. 😑
All of these get you stressed out and frustrated, causing you to feel sad , mad and bad . ☹ To cap it off, you’ve got a bunch of unmet expectations especially for yourself.
If any of those resonates with you … I know how that feels. I remember at some point in my life experiencing all of those and got stuck in the loss, less, never mindset which caused me to live in anxiety and fear 😟 .Wasn’t fun at all.
Later on, I had to wake up to the reality that something was wrong and a change was needed. So, I set out to find a fix 😤
In the findings, virtually all the sources I stumbled on pointed to the same thing that was lacking
👉👉 Gratitude. Gratitude. Gratitude.
And so I made a decision to practice gratitude with all my whole heart since I was just tired of all the misery. Although there were many sources that helped me make the shift , this one quote struck a cord in me – “Trade your expectations for appreciation and your whole world changes instantly.”
That was a game changer for me. And so I began focusing on appreciating everything I have and I am so that I have no time to pore over things I don’t have. This has become part of my daily routine and God willing will remain a lifestyle forever 🙏.
Indeed letting go of all those expectations that remind us of what we don’t have and then appreciating all that we have is a great way to stay happy, sane and joyful 😊 That’s how powerful gratitude is and I know that for sure 👌
