Who are you?

who are you

“When our identity lies solely in what we do I.e. in the externals, we will lose ourselves if/when we lose those things and can’t do them anymore. ” ~ Franklin H. Ezenwa

Have you ever asked yourself this question – “Who am I?” 🤔

  • Are you your job/career title?
  • Are you your accomplishments?
  • Are you your failures?
  • Are you the roles you play in your family or community?
  • Are you your possessions?

How about this one… Are you the likes, comments and views on your posts on social media?

There’s usually big danger when we define ourselves by external things. When our identity lies solely in what we do I.e. in the externals, we will lose ourselves if/when we lose those things and can’t do them anymore. Hence, we begin to see no reason to live anymore since that was what our entire life was built around 😑

That’s why I believe it’s essential that we get intentional and deliberate about what we allow to define ourselves 😌 .

So, who are you?

This is a question of identity which directs the course of our lives as well as our behaviors. 👌

Someone once said that, I paraphrase, the strongest force in the universe is our need to stay consistent to who we define ourselves by. 💯

Also, if we don’t know who we are, we allow others to define us. And in most cases that won’t align with who we truly are at our core … the essence of our being.

So, again – who are you? 🙂
